Why Nobody Cares About Upvc Replacement Door Handles

Home Page  on your doors are worn out with time and require to be replaced. In this case, it is important that the new handles conform to the critical dimensions of the handle that was previously used.

The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw's position the lever and key hole dimensions. Check the size guide for assistance in this.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever/lever door handle is a modern handle that can be installed on new or replacement doors. This style door handle is available in a variety of styles and finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The door handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are suitable for multi point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline and run with the same spindle as well as screw fixings so they are easily installed on existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to accommodate any user. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles, this allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is particularly useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is further away from the door. A lever that is shorter can be used for doors with latches which can be operated with the thumb inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles that are used on the majority of doors. These handles can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are usually utilized on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a range of finishes & variations.

The handles are available in a variety of finishes including White Chrome, and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with an outstanding performance and durability for its intended use.

All UPVC levers for handles come with a spindle, screws and can be mounted on the uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres allow for a bigger handle, which is typically a benefit when replacing an old or damaged multi-point door lock mechanism. The levers for these handles have a spring, which solves the problem of handles for doors that slide out of their horizontal position when they are not being used.

When choosing the replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is important to match the dimensions of the PZ of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is also called 'handle centres' or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the correct handles.

Once you have decided on the proper PZ size it is important to make sure that the push and lever pads are designed to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. These are typically rectangular or round in shape, with an internal lever and external push pad.

The majority of UPVC lever pads that we sell are sprung, meaning that they will return to their horizontal position when not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly sticking in the frame. This stops draughts and cold air from getting into a house. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles come in both left and right handed models, allowing them to be put on either side of the doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are commonly used on uPVC doors, but they can also be used on other types of door. The cylinder lock is operated by using a key that unlocks the cylinder's casing. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned to those in the lock and allow them to rotate the revolving camera, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is vitally important; this is contingent on how your doors and handle are used. External doors, for example, should be fitted with cylinders with greater security and internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders come with additional features that increase security further, such as anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

A euro cylinder must be measured correctly to ensure it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to each end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable measure it with the lock in position, you can take it out of it. It is important to avoid having a extension of the cylinder beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

The design of most newer cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to minimize the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to turn in a new direction. This will help to deflect attacks and protect your door.

There are cylinders that are made to withstand snapping. This is a growing kind of attack on cylinders where the break line inside the lock is smashed using a special tool to snap off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is faster and easier to achieve than gaining access through multipoint locks and leaves little evidence of a break-in which can hinder the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette sits in the base of the door handle backplate providing a sprung solution to return the multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after usage. There was a time when handles didn't have a spring built into them, and without it they can droop or  drop once the locking mechanism is disengaged. This simple feature is among the best methods to correct this issue and is a great way to prevent your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in an open or closed position, as they aren't always easy to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes are specifically designed for use with sprung multipoint locks They will not work with unsprung multipoint handles and you will need to have a bespoke hole cut into your backplate in order for them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). They are a replacement for existing damaged or missing cassettes inside the door handle backplate of numerous brands of uPVC doors. They are fitted with an elongated square that allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and are sold as a set.

These spring cassettes offer a great value solution to the issue of door handles that have become sagging. They are simple to install and will increase the life of your uPVC door.
